A plastic object (1) to be metallised by electroplating has placed thereon in a non-detachable manner, prior to the pretreatment carried out in baths, at least one anchoring element (3) which is sufficiently stable in the baths. Prior to dipping the plastic article (1) into current-carrying baths, there is attached to the anchoring element (3) a pressing-on device (6) by means of which contacts (8) connected to the current-carrying frame (5) are pressed against the plastic object (1) surface which had first been made conductive in an electroless process. <IMAGE>
