In the treatment of liquids which contain radioactive or aggressive substances, hot concentrate solutions develop whose composition has to be continuously monitored by taking samples. A diluted concentrate is to be removed on account of the dangerous handling of these substances. To this end, a bypass line (2) branches off from the concentrate line (1) and returns the concentrate through a valve block (5) to the concentrate line (1). In the process, the valves (11 and 13) connected to a liquid or mixing tank are closed. To take samples, first of all one valve (12) situated in the bypass line and immediately afterwards the other valve (14) situated upstream of this valve (12), as viewed in the concentrate flow direction, are closed. The concentrate quantity thereby retained in the valve chamber (15) is forced into the mixing tank (7) by means of the liquid in the container (3) after the opening of the valves (11, 13), connected to the liquid or mixing tank, as well as of the ventilation valve (9). After homogeneous intermixing of the contents of the mixing tank by means of agitator (18), the samples are taken via the sampling container (8). <IMAGE>
