<p>An ignition coil is proposed which is intended to form part of the ignition system of an internal-combustion engine. This ignition coil has a housing (1) which is intended to hold the primary and secondary windings. A cover (2), which is produced as a moulding of insulating material, is used for closing the housing (1). The cover (2) has a through-opening (4) which is closed by a safety device (3), the through-opening (4) being freed as soon as severe heating forms in the housing (1). According to the invention, the safety device (3) is a cover region (5) having a wall thickness (a) which is reduced so far that it bursts open at a specific excess pressure in the housing (1). …<IMAGE>… </p> |
