PURPOSE:To prevent a card edge from being damaged, by reducing depressing pressure to a depression plate through energizing an electromagnetic clutch for making an accurate operating timing. CONSTITUTION:A second electromagnetic clutch 57 is deenergized and the rotation of a feed roller 14 by a drive motor is reduced as soon as the front edge of a preceding card 11a passes through a first sensor and a first electromagnetic clutch 45 and a solenoid 48 are energized to reduce depressing pressure to a depressing plate 13 or before the rear edge of the preceding card 11a passes through the front edge l3a of the depressing plate 13. Although a feed roller 14 is rotated by the movement of the preceding card 11a fed by a pair of a first feed rollers, the rotation of the feed roller 14 is almost stopped when the rear edge of the preceding card 11a passes through the front end 15a of a separating plate 15. Therefore, a forcible insertion of the front edge of a succeeding card 11b between the inclined surface 15b of the separating plate and the preceding card 11a can be prevented.
