Method of burner cutting workpieces with rounded edges or circular workpiece consists of feeding strip material (19) into the flame as ignition aiding means. The strip is rapidly heated to ignition temperature and then burnt by the oxygen cutting beam. ADVANTAGE - Enables the curved starting point on the workpiece to be quickly heated to cutting temperature without endangering the security of the work area. The strip is fed to the cutting area in a simple and stable fashion without encountering the problems of a wire feed.
