PURPOSE:To obtain an equipment and a method for ultrasonic flaw detection and a gain control device which make it possible to accurately and stablely detect a defect even when the speed of conveyance of a material to be inspected changes and also make it possible to improve the inspection efficiency when they are used for an on-line control of a process of production and which control a reception gain automatically in accordance with the speed of conveyance of the mateial to be inspected. CONSTITUTION:The equipment and device comprise a probe 6, a speedometer 3 measuring the speed of conveyance of a material 2 to be inspected, a speed detecting circuit 8 discriminating a corresponding zone out of a plurality of conveyance speed zones, a gain control circuit 9 making a corresponding gain controller output a control output signal and a reception circuit 7 amplifying a defect echo by a gain controlled in accordance with the control output signal. |
