Partially or totally heat sealable films or parts of films are joined end to end by: superimposing the films (F1,F2) over a length (F3); making a weld cut (S) in the superimposed length (F3); separating the joined films about the mold line(S); submitting the weld cut (S) to a flattening operation. The films are maintained under tension while cut and the weld cut tool and flattening tool are mounted to be able to traverse the width of the film. The two tools are ultrasonic with heads (2a,3a) displaceable w.r.t. annils (2b,3b). |
