<p>The gripper loom with at least one insertion band (4) has guide teeth (20, 21) as a sliding support for the gripper which is equipped with a runner (10) in the head region. So that there is no damage to the band edges, the guide teeth according to the invention are so designed that they form the sliding surface for the gripper runner (10), but ensure that there is no contact with the edges of the guide bands. Because the band edges are protected, this reduces the frequency of the warp-yarn breaks which occur relatively often in hitherto existing gripper looms because of the rubbing of the warp yarns on the insertion band.
