PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earthquake-proof joint member which dispenses with a soft synthetic resin, and is proof against cracks even if the deviation of relative positions of panel members occurs due to the vibration of an earthquake etc. SOLUTION: The earthquake-proof joint member 1 is formed of a thermoplastic vinyl chloride having a hardness of 85 or higher, and integrally molded of a U-shaped cross sectional fitting portion 2 and an overhanging portions 3. The fitting portion 2 is fitted into a joint of the panel members P secured to a structural member such as a wall and a ceiling. The overhanging portions 3 are extended from both edges of the fitting portion 2 and stuck to upper surfaces of the panel members P. The fitting portion 2 has a plurality of grooves 2a formed at side wall external surfaces and a bottom wall lower surface so as to extend in a longitudinal direction, and therefore even if the deviation of the relative positions of the panel members P, P occurs due to the vibration generated on both sides of the panel member P having the earthquake-proof joint member 1 which is fixed thereto, the fitting portion 2 is flexibly deflected and deformed by virtue of the grooves 2a, and therefore cracks are hardly generated around the earthquake-proof joint member 1.
