Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for measuring body composition. Impedance of an electric circuit including a body differs depending on body composition; impedance lower than impedance of a normal state of the electric circuit is determined, and a moisture ratio of a skin is obtained by analyzing the same; and a body fat ratio is obtained from the impedance of the normal state. To this end, the apparatus for measuring a body composition includes: an electrode unit coming in contact with the body of a user; an impedance measurement unit connected to the electrode unit to measure the impedance of the electric circuit including the body; and a first determination unit obtaining the moisture ratio of the skin from the impedance based on the impedance of the normal state of the electric circuit and comparison impedance corresponding to n percent of the impedance of the normal state.
