A wheelchair for large individuals includes front casters mounted substantially forward of the user's center of gravity. Front caster and rear wheels are mounte d on the same rigid member. The rigid member is pivotally attached to the rear of the frame while the front includes suspension means extending between the rigid member and the frame. A side plate provides universal adjustability for position ing the backrest, for pivoting the armrests and for seat height and tilt adjustment. A telescoping tube engages the ground when the wheelchair is leaned back to prevent tipping.
