A delay line consists of two insulated conductors helix-cross wound on a former, the winding directions of the conductors being opposite to each other so that at each half-turn the conductors cross each other. At each cross-over point the relative positions of the conductors in relation to the surface of the former are changed, i.e., the conductor which was nearer to the former surface takes the outer position and vice versa. The delay line is fitted with a coaxial cable (not shown). The former may be of insulating or ferromagnetic material. A shield (not shown) may surround the delay line. |
