Disinfectants active as bactericides, fungicides and algicides comprise a compound of formula R-CnH2n-SO2M in which R is a 2 degrees or 3 degrees satd. aliphatic amine or polyamine, having 1-4 nitrogen atoms and 8-40 degrees C amino groups, at least one nitrogen being substd. by a 8-18C alkyl, n is 1-6 and M is a metal or NH4 e.g. sodium salt of octylaminomethyl - sulphinic acid.
