PURPOSE: A three-step high-pressure air compressor with four-step compression structure and compression method of the same are provided to improve compression efficiency at low cost. CONSTITUTION: A first air compression device generating compressed air comprises a primary and a secondary cylinders(17) formed in T-shape and having upper parts with larger diameter and lower parts with smaller diameter and penetrating holes formed on both sides of a border line on which the diameter is changed so that a secondary intake valve(12) is installed to one side to be supplied with primarily compressed air from a primary and a secondary cylinder heads(19) and a secondary discharge valve(13) is installed to the other side to discharge secondarily compressed air to a second air compression device; and a primary and a secondary pistons(16) formed in T-shape and having an upper part with larger diameter and a lower part with smaller diameter to reciprocate in the primary and the secondary cylinders, ring grooves formed on the upper parts and the lower parts, respectively, so that a primary piston ring(15) is installed to the upper ring groove and a secondary piston ring(14) is installed to the lower ring groove.
