1287628 Hydraulic fluid FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 5 Sept 1969 [5 Sept 1968] 44019/69 Heading C5F An hydraulic fluid comprises a major proportion of (a) an alkylene glycol, polyalkylene glycol, alkylene glycol ether, or polyalkylene glycol ether, optionally mixed with water, and 0À1- 20 wt. per cent of (b) an additive of the formula wherein X is S or O, R is CH 3 or H and n = ;-5/3. Suitable base fluids are polyethylene glycol, or ethyl polyglycol of various M. wts. and ethylene glycol. A preferred additive is tris(hydroxymethyl)phosphine oxide. Corrosion inhibitors may be present e.g. NaNO 3 , borax, triethanolamine or morpholine.
