1287470 Pressurized dispensing containers GILLETTE CO 18 Nov 1969 [25 Nov 1968] 56455/69 Heading F1R In a double container package for dispensing a mixture of two substances under pressure, the container discharge valve is arranged to open with snap action. As shown, the package has a flexible walled inner container 22 seated on base (20) of a rigid walled outer container (10). The valve assembly 18 comprises a housing connected by a metering orifice 44 to a dip tube 32 and having latch means comprising flexible fingers 50 located about the valve stem portion Fig. 3 (not shown) and these fingers have a latch surface 54 and a ramp surface 56 which engages stop surface 74 of stem 26, the latch surface 54 being inclined at a greater acute angle to the direction of movement of the valve stem 26 than ramp surface 56. The latch means provide initial resistance to the opening movement of the valve stem, which resistance reduces on further movement of stem, thus providing a snap action opening for the ports 66, 68 which connect the discharge passage to the valve housing. An annular flange portion 72 on the stem provides a surface on which pressurized material in the package acts to tend to move the stem to the open position. |
