<p>RECOVERY OF CELLULOSE FROM BAGASSE FOR THE PRODUCTION OF FIBRES AND FILAMENTS. G2B. Comprising the usual operations of prehydrolysis, cooling in an alkaline medium of the sulphate type, washing, classifying, bleaching, washing and classifying again, and finally draining the water from the cellulose on a paper-making machine, is characterised by the following features. When the prehydrolysis is carried out with saturated steam, the ratio of the material to water is 1:1 to 1.2:1.0, when the prehydrolysis is carried out with water the ratio is 2.5:1 to 3:1. The cooking is carried out with addition of 22-24% NaOH; the sulphur content of the solution is 15-20%. The product is suitable for the manufacture of fibres by the viscose method.</p> |
