PURPOSE:To count the piled plastic cards by detecting the number of intermittences of a transparent layer when viewing aside the pile of plastic cards. CONSTITUTION:A plastic card consists of an opaque core part A and a transparent part B on the surface of the part A. The parts A and B have different optical proporties from each other. When such plastic cards are piled in their thickness direction, a light transmitting layer is formed between cards in the direction rectangular to the thickness direction. The light shielding part overlaps the light transmitting part when viewed from the thickness direction of the card. A photodetector 2 and a projector 3 are provided so as to form an optical path in the direction rectangular to the thickness direction of the card. Then a card pile matter is shifted relatively to the photodetector and the projector. Thus an output is generated to the photodetector 2 for each card. The number of card is counted by counting the output of the photodetector 2. |
