The tool comprises a hollow tubular body(10) contg. a rotatable bush (40) of which the inner bore (38) contains two semicylindrical axially movable and non-rotatable gripper members(50). These members can swivel from an open release position to a closed position to hold a stud. The bush is axially movable between a lower position and an upper position when its tang engages a slot in the bottom of the drive head (30). The tool is used by the motor vehicle and furniture industries. The small external dia. permits use in confined spaces, with improved reliability.
