PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable conductance heat pipe exhibiting excellent controllability of heat radiation in which radiation starting temperature can be sustained at a constant level by preventing ambient temperature variation from having an effect on the movement of interface between the vapor of working liquid and noncondensible gas. SOLUTION: The variable conductance heat pipe comprises an enclosed container having an evaporating section and a condensing section, a specified quantity of a working fluid and noncondensible gas encapsulated in the enclosed container, and a gas trap for containing gas provided at the end part of the condensing section not to be exposed directly to heat emitted therefrom.
