The operating device uses a plunger rod (2) displaced longitudinally relative to the housing (4) containing the microswitch (3). The rod (4) and the microswitch are provided by an insert (7) fitted in the switch housing, with a guide (8) for the movement of the rod and a carrier plate (10) for the microswitch. The microswitch is mounted in the carrier plate with its switch operating element (11) parallel to the operating rod and contacted by a perpendicular arm (13) projecting from the side of the operating rod.
