ATM EXCHANGE AND METHOD THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively utilize the exchange capacity of an asynchronous trans fer mode(ATM) switching device by transmitting a call control signal received from outside to a line of a connected party through a control bus. SOLUTION: When an ATM terminal 106 calls, a call control signal is transmitted to a call control processor 104 under operation by way of a call control line 108 and a call control line 109. The call control signal transmitted to a call control processing part in the call control processor 104. The call control processing part analyzes the received call control signal and generates a call control signal to be transmitted to an ISDN line. Since the generated call control signal is to be transmitted not to an ATM line but to the ISDN line, the call control signal is transmitted to an ISDN line housing device 103 by way of a unit control part and a control bus 105. Together with this transmission, connection between an (r) terminal and an (s) terminal is instructed to an ATM switch device 102 by way of the unit control part and the control bus 105.
