The subject of the invention relates to a data carrier that may also be used as a means of payment, especially for use in computing and/or entertainment electronics, which is randomly accessible, writable and readable. During the production of the data carrier (A) it is provided with a marking (S) designating a determined amount, suitable for carrying out financial transactions and/or has a marking (SR) that may be filled up and/or refilled. Favourably the data carrier (A) also has a unique identifier (M) that clear differentiates it from the others.
