PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep favorable steering feeling even when a detected physical quantity used for assisting force control is suddenly changed by a noise or the like. SOLUTION: This electric power steering device is provided with a vehicular speed sensor for detecting a vehicle speed V expressing an operation condition of a vehicle, a vehicle speed VS for computing is determined based on the detected vehicle speed V, and a command current value for electrifying an electric motor is determined in response to the determined speed VS. When the speed VS is determined, whether an absolute value of a difference between the last detected vehicle speed VOLD detected a prescribed time ago and the detected vehicle speed V detected this time is a guard value GV or more or not is determined to make the vehicle speed VS for this time brought into a value (VOLD+GV or VOLD-GV) provided by adding or subtracting the guard value GV to/from the last detected vehicle speed VOLD when the absolute value exceeds the guard value GV (steps 420-440). The vehicle speed VS for the computing used for the determination of the command current value is thereby restrained from being changed suddenly to stabilize the assiting force control. |
