Dichloromethylenecarbonic acid esters and -thioesters are obtained by reacting dichloromethylenecarbamic acid chloride with alcohols, thioalcohols, phenols or thiophenols at a temperature range of from -50 DEG to + 100 DEG C. The compounds obtained by this process show pesticidal activity. They can, furthermore, be used for the preparation of the corresponding isocyanates.
