1306117 Variable speed gearing control ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 14 April 1970 [15 April 1969] 17605/70 Heading F2D Ratio selection of a variable speed gearing is by rotation of a shaft 21 mounting four cams 23, 24, 26, 27, of which cams 23, 26, 27 are identical engaging four gates 1, 7, 10, 13 slidably mounted by bars 2, 9, of which-bar 9 is fixed to the gates 7, 10, 13, each of cams 23, 26, 27 is approximately an equilateral triangle of height h, and circumscribing a circle radius r along which one side of the triangle is curved to lie, the cam 24 also having a height h and circumscribing a circle r but having a side on this circle half the length of the other cams, the centrelines 22<SP>1</SP>, 25<SP>1</SP>, 26<SP>1</SP>, 27<SP>1</SP> of the cams phased relatively at about 0, 67¢, 90, 45 degrees, the gates 1, 7, 10 each having a roughly rectangular opening 3 the shorter side of which is parallel to the bars 2, 9 and equal to h, one longer side of the opening of the gate 10 having a recess 12 of radius r, the gate 13 having a similar recess 13<SP>1</SP> oppositely disposed. A gear-box, Fig. 4, to which this control may be applied has gear-wheels 31, 43 clutchable to a shaft 30, and gear-wheels 40, 41 to a shaft 37. For each gear either clutch 44 or 45 is disengaged, and clutches 32, 36 connect coaxial shafts 30, 33 to the input alternately for consecutive ratios. The gates control the clutches 44 and 45 and engage one of these clutches before disengaging the other when changing ratio while clutches 32, 36 are both disengaged. |
