1,190,987. Sulphurizing silver coatings. SAAB A.B. July 26, 1967 [July 26, 1966], No.34448/67. Headings C7B and C7U. In a process of forming a self lubricating layer on a metal the metal is first electrolytically coated with silver and the silver surface is then converted to silver sulphide to a depth of at least 1 micron. Sulphurizing may be effected chemically by treating in a 10% solution of H 2 O 2 and then without rinsing treating in a 10% solution of ammonium sulphide. Alternatively sulphurizing may be effected electrolytically at 0À1 - 0À2A/dm<SP>2</SP> in a solution of sodium sulphide and "Teepol" (Registered Trade Mark). The silver layer is preferably 5-10 microns thick and the silver sulphide is 1-2 microns thick. |
