Triaolium salts (I) or (II) are new (where R1 is alkynyl (cyclo)alkyl, (cyclo)alkenyl, aralkyl or opt. substd. heterocyclic gp.; R2 and R4 are alkynyl (cyclo)alkyl, (cyclo)alkenyl, aryl, aralkyl, >C, alkylthio, araylthio, aralkylthio, or opt substd. heterocyclic gp., provided that both R2 and R4 are not Me; R5 is H, the gp., SO2R7 or A:C.ZR7 or opt. substd. alkyl or aralkyl; R6 is H or opt. substd. alkyl or aralkyl; or R5+R6 together represent the gp. =CR9R10; R11 is a gp. -SO2R7 or A=CZR7 provided that when R1 is Me, R2 and R4 are phenyl, X- is iodide and R3 is not NH2; R7 is alkyl, aryl or aralkyl opt. substd.; A is O or S; Z is a single bond, O, S or the gp. -NR8; R8 is H the values of R7, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aralkyl or aryl, opt. substd; R9 and R10 are H, alkyl, aryl or aralkyl, opt. substd.; or R9 and R10 together are alkylene; X- is an anion). The cpds. may be used for plant protection and plant growth regulation. 4-Methylamino-1-ethyl-3,5-diphenyl-1,2,4-triazolium is an example of (I).
