Electronic point of sale terminal. Of the type that has a personal computer 1 that is connected to a modem 2 for connecting it to a switched network and to a personal identification number dialling circuit 4 for paying for a purchase by means of a magnetic card. It is characterized by having two microprocessors 10 and 11, the first of which controls the keyboard 4, which is configurable; and the other microprocessor 11 is connected to a printer via a printer customization board 22; all of it in order to be enabled to use any type of printer, as well as different types of keyboard, which in turn may be configurable; all of it without the need to use additional circuitry and/or programming. In addition, the terminal of the invention enables both the acquisition and display of data at great speed, avoiding the occurrence of dead waiting times. The information can be displayed via three displays 16 to facilitate viewing the operation both by the user and the customer. <IMAGE>
