PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composition having ion-exchange capability or catalytic activity and useful for the recovery of metallic ion, etc., by kneading a functional group-containing viscoelastic material under specific condition, adding water and a non-compatible liquid at specific ratios and kneading the mixture. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be produced by kneading (A) a functional group-containing viscoelastic material (e.g. sulfonated asphalt) under high shearing force in a state to keep the strtinginess and mixing and kneading the component A with (B) water and/or a liquid having high affinity to water and low affinity to the component A (e.g. methanol) at a ratio to give a mixture containing 40-300wt.%, preferably 40-200wt.% component B based on the component A. |
