It is a new apparatus for the temporal analysis of optical phenomena of picosecond and femtosecond duration, essentially consisting of an access window A, a photocathode B, a deflection cavity C, consisting of two power inlets geometrically orthogonal to each other and both of them orthogonal to the axis of the beam, an accelerator D, a phosphor screen E with microchannel plate F, and digital television camera G. The beam of electrons being studied strikes the photocathode B, which emits photons, which pass through the radio-frequency cavity C; the photons are then deviated, with constant intensity, along radial directions with respect to the geometrical axis, until they hit the phosphor screen E, producing a circular arc representation of the succession of the various photons.

|
