PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an SOHC engine capable of standing an ignition plug toward the center of a combustion chamber up to an excellent position by a simple constitution. SOLUTION: A rocker shaft 35 for exhaust of each cylinder is divided and formed by two rocker shafts 37a and 37a for independently supporting each rocker arm 37 for exhaust. By providing a plug hole 60 in the vicinity of the center on an exhaust side of the cylinder and at a position which crosses a gap between end parts of the two divided and formed rocker shafts 35a facing each other, the plug hole 60 is approached to the center of a combustion chamber 3 without making the plug hole 60 interfere with the rocker shaft 35 for exhaust. As a result, the plug hole 60 (ignition plug 61) is stood toward the center of the combustion chamber 3 up to a sufficient angle.
