PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new chair the height of the seat surface of which can optionally be adjusted so as to enable a person to easily stand up, to sit down, to move from a wheelchair for sitting and to move to the wheelchair for riding. SOLUTION: The chair has a chair body consisting of a seat part and a seat back with a tilting angle adjusting means formed continuously to the rear edge of the seat part, a seat surface height adjusting device which has a top surface moving in a horizontal direction from the lowest height position to a middle height position and moving to make a tilting state in which a rear side is gradually raised according to rising and to project forward simultaneously from the middle position height to the highest height position and which mounts and fixes the chair body on the top surface 42, and a seating part provided on the lower surface of the seat surface height adjusting device.
