<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus contrived to make the restraint of the exchange frequency of a brush compatible with the appropriate supply of lubricant to an image carrier. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with a cleaning part for scraping off residue remaining on the surface of the image carrier after a toner image on the image carrier is transferred to a body to be transferred, the solid lubricant to be applied to the surface of the image carrier, the brush arranged on a more upstream side in the rotating direction of the image carrier than the cleaning part and applying the lubricant to the surface of the image carrier by rotating in a state where it comes into contact with the solid lubricant, a flicking member for flicking off an adhesive matter adhering to the brush by coming into contact with the brush, and a control part for controlling the contact state of the flicking member with the brush. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
