PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for manually releasing a non-excitation operation type electromagnetic brake, which mechanism can be easily manipulated and further can be stably operated. SOLUTION: A brake releasing screw 12 is screwed into a female screw portion 26a of a brake cover 26. An end portion 14b of a half-ring shape brake releasing arm 14 can engage with a dog 22a, and the brake releasing arm 14 is swivelably supported by a bolt 18 at its intermediate portion. The other end portion 14a is held between a brake releasing spring 16 and the brake releasing screw 12. Usually, when the brake releasing screw 12 in the tightened state has been loosened, the end portion 14b of the brake releasing arm 14 pushes the dog 22a in the clockwise direction about the bolt 18 serving as a fulcrum by the elastic restoring force stored in the brake releasing spring 16.
