The present invention relates to a garnet-based fluorescent substance doped with cerium, which is represented by chemical formula of (Lu_(8-a-b-x),A_a)Al_bO_12:Ce_x. In chemical formula, A is barium (Ba) substituting lutetium (Lu); a is greater than or equal to 0.001 and less than or equal to 1.23; b is an integer of 5 to 7; and x is greater than 0.001 and less than or equal to 0.5. According to the present invention, the garnet-based fluorescent substance doped with cerium has improved luminance characteristics and reliability characteristics.
