PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound for an organic electroluminescent element which allows a sufficiently long driving life to be obtained when used as a constituent material of an organic electroluminescent element, and to provide an organic electroluminescent element using the compound.SOLUTION: The compound for an organic electroluminescent element is an anthracene compound having at least one substituent represented by general formula (2). The organic electroluminescent element uses the compound.
