A novel contribution to the cooling of molds for the continuous casting of metals and alloys, and primarily for the production of cylindrical billets, is the claimed operation of heating the walls of a mold and water circulating in a closed loop and in channels in said walls to a temperature of 150-170°C, and then pouring molten metal into the mold while simultaneously cooling the hot water circulating in the closed loop. |
