Chrome-carbon steel hnas a chromium content of 18-30% wt. and a carbon content of 2.2-3.1% wt. and contains parallel crystals of a chromium carbide, (Cr,Fe)7C3, phase in a matric of an iron phase. The chrome-carbon steel has a chromium content of 23% wt. and a carbon content of 3% wt. After casting the steel is heated to a temp. of 800-1200 degrees C, and quenched. Because of its high hardness, high corrosion resistance and high flex resistance, tensile strength and abrasion resistance, the steel is suitable for use as a tool steel in chisels, drills, mills and measuring tools.
|
