Programmable connectors are employed, for example, in telephone and data processing installations to make permanent contacts between two conductor systems crossing at ring angles. They thus act as a permanent information store. The connector is fitted with contact elements in selected locations to give the desired code. Each contact element comprises a hair pin shaped spring (3) located in a slot in the connector body. The jaws of the spring make contact between the conductors (2), which cross at right angles, in a position which bisects the angle between the conductors. This arrangement of the elements gives relatively even contact pressure on all the conductors, and is also effective where round conductors are employed. |
