<p>PURPOSE:To prevent lubricating oil from remaining in a cam shaft when an engine is stopped, by providing a through hole at the rear end of the cam shaft so that the hole connects an oil passage to the outside of the shaft. CONSTITUTION:A holding plate 11 is directly attached to a second bearing 5 at the rear end face of a cam shaft 1. The side of the holding plate 11 facing the cam shaft 1 is provided with a groove 13 extending from an oil passage 2 to a part of the secnd bearing 5. The second bearing 5 is provided with a through hole 14 opened at one end into the groove 13 and at the other to the outside of the cam shaft 1. The through hole 14 is inclined at about 5 to 10 degrees to the horizontal line and has such size that excess lubricating oil does not flow out. When an engine is stopped, lubricating oil in the passage 2 moves to the rear end of the cam shaft 1 and flows out of it through the hole 14.</p> |
