<p>Stabilised photographic Ag halide (AgX) material contains, in the emulsion, azole thioether cpds. (I) and/or (II) of the formula. In the formulae R is H, alkali metal or NH4. X completes a 5- or 6-membered heterocycle. Z completes an azole ring (e.g. axazole, thiazole, imidazole or tetrazole ring). X and Z can be substd. or condensed with aromatic or heterocyclic ring. (I) and (II) prevent fogging during mfr. and/or processing, without reducing the speed. (I)/(II) is used in an amt. of 0.05-10 mmole/mole AgX, opt. in conjunction with other stabilisers/antifoggants, esp. 5-methyl-7-hydroxy-1,3,4-triazindolizine (III). In an example using 10 mmole (III) and 3 (0) mmole 7-hydroxy-5-methyl-2-(1-phenyltetrazol-5-yl-mercapto-1,3,4-trizai- ndolizine, the speed/fog was 100(100)/-0.05(0) for fresh and 54(58)/-0.02(+0.12) for aged materials.</p> |
