PURPOSE:To switch the direction of a moving component of a standing wave generated in an annular vibrator by selecting means thereby to relatively reversibly rotate a contactor and a vibrator by providing an extractor for selecting the moving component from the standing wave. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic wave motor has a vibrator (elastic ring) 80, a vibration source (piezoelectric ring) 81, a contactor (rotor) 84, a high frequency power source 86, and a changeover switch 87 of selecting means. The vibration source 81 is formed of annular piezoelectric ceramics of first-second piezoelectric element rows A, B reversely polarized at each 1/2 wavelength, an extractor 83 for selecting the specific moving direction of a bending standing wave at the vibrator 80, and both are bonded. The source 86 is connected through the switch 87 to the rows A, B, and either the row A or B can be excited by selectively switching the switch 87 to rotate the contactor 84 in an arbitrary direction. |
