In the case of a longitudinally adjustable gas spring with two tubes enclosing each other concentrically and with a valve at one end and with a relief channel at the end where the piston rod exits the inner tube consists of plastics material. It has groove-like channels on its external wall which connect the relief channel with the valve. The webs between adjacent channels bear against the internal wall of the outer tube.
