PURPOSE:To surely eliminate dust or magnetic powder stuck to a magnetic recording medium, to prevent the clogging of a head from occurring and to reduce dropout by providing plural blades whose tip parts are brought into contact with the medium on the traveling path of the medium. CONSTITUTION:Two blades 32 and 33 are fitted to the top part of a member 31 on a base 30 and the tip parts thereof are brought into contact with the magnetic surface of a magnetic tape 1 at prescribed angles. When the tape 1 is made to travel in a direction (x), the dust or the magnetic powder stuck to the tape 1 is eliminated by the tip part of the blade 32. Then, the dust or the magnetic powder which cannot be eliminated by the blade 32 is eliminated by the tip part of the blade 33 behind the blade 32. Besides, even in the case that the tape 1 is reversely fed at a rewinding or a reproducing time, the dust or the magnetic powder which drops out from the blade 33 before the blade 32 and is attached on the tape 1 again can be eliminated by the blade 32. Thus, the clogging of the head and the dropout at the reproducing time can be prevented from occurring.
