PURPOSE:To obtain a recording material utilizing novel color forming reaction and excellent in the preservability and reliability by providing a color forming layer based on a specific nitrogencontaining heterocyclic compd. and an acidic substance on a support. CONSTITUTION:A nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compd. and an acidic substance are mixed to prepare a thermal coating soln. which is, in turn, applied to a support and the coated support is dried and subjected to calender processing to form a thermal recording material. The nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compd. is represented by the formula I (wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a substituted or non-substituted alkyl group, a substituted or non-substituted aryl group or a substituted or non-substituted aralkyl group). Therefore, a recording material not having the defects of a conventional thermal recording material using an electron donating leuco dye and an electron acceptive coupler and excellent in the reliability against chemicals is obtained. |
