An auxiliary heat exchanger (20) for pre-cooling is secured to the compressor (9) and located close to the compressor exit (8). The cooling device comprises a main heat exchanger for the transfer of thermal energy between supercharged sucked-in air from a compressor in the engine and cold air. An auxiliary heat exchanger is located between the compressor and main heat exchanger in order to carry out transfer of heat between the supercharged air and a liquid coolant. An Independent claim is also included for an internal combustion engine fitted with this cooling device. |
