PURPOSE:To industrially produce D-proline used as a synthetic raw material for medicines, agrochemicals, etc. CONSTITUTION:This method for producing D-proline is to bring a microbial cell of a microorganism, belonging to the genus Escherichia and having proline racemase activities, a culture solution or a treated substance thereof into contact with L-proline in an aqueous medium, produce DL-proline, then bring the DL- proline produced in the aqueous medium into contact with a microbial cell of a microorganism having L-proline hydrolytic abilities, a culture solution or a treated substance thereof, hydrolyze the L-proline in the aqueous medium and then collect the residual D-proline from the aqueous medium. |
