摘要 An apparatus for implementing efficient redundancy in a base station system and a method thereof are provided to efficiently cope with poor conditions of core parts while minimizing inducement of an interference noise because modules for 3 FA(Frequency Assignment)/3 sectors share one redundancy module via RF switches. An apparatus for implementing efficient redundancy in a base station system comprises a main processor(210), a network matching unit(220), a channel card unit(230), a transceiver unit(240), an RF switching unit(250), a high power amplification unit(260), a TDD switching unit(280) and a repeater interface(290). The main processor(210) plays a role of making an overall control of the base station system with a GPS based synchronization clock signal. The network matching unit(220) supports Ethernet based L2 switching for interfacing between an ACR(Access Control Router) and the channel card unit(230). The channel card unit(230) is connected to the ACR via the Ethernet based L2 switching in the network matching unit(220). The transceiver unit(240) modulates a digital data stream, outputted by the channel card unit(230), into RF signals in a set modulation scheme, like QAM or QPSK, transmits the modulated RF signals to the high power amplification unit(260), demodulates RF signals, received from the TDD switching unit(280), into a digital data stream in accordance with a set demodulation scheme, and transmits the demodulated digital data stream to the channel card unit(230). The high power amplification unit(260) amplifies the signals modulated in the transceiver unit(240) to a set level, and transmits the amplified signal to the TDD switching unit(280). The TDD switching unit(280), connected to antennas supporting plural sectors, supports a TDD switching operation. The RF switching unit(250), located between the transceiver(240) and the TDD switching unit(280), switches a poor conditioned transceiver among the transceiver unit(240) or a poor conditioned amplifier among the high power amplification unit(260) to one redundancy transceiver among the transceiver unit(240) or one redundancy high power amplifier among the high power amplification unit(260). The repeater interface(290), connected to the channel card unit(230), supports an FA interface between the channel card unit(230) and a repeater having an antenna covering omni directions of plural sectors.
