PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a monitoring device capable of restoring data to a state before a failure occurs when the failure occurs without preparing an extra mass storage device and without periodically backing up mass data. SOLUTION: Data of devices/sensors or the like 4 collected from controllers 2 are stored in a database 13, a slip data preparing means 120 performs statistical processing of the data to prepare slip data for display, and changed slip data is stored in an external storage device 3 when the prepared slip data is changed by a data changing means 121. When the monitoring device 1 fails and is restored, the data of the devices/sensors or the like 4 are collected again from the controllers 2, and the collected data are merged with the slip data read from the external storage device 3 and changed, and stored in the database 13 to thereby restore the database 13 to a state before the failure of the monitoring device 1.
